Melissa & Peter were married overlooking the ocean on Race Point in Provincetown at sunset with just their closest family there to witness. They rented a house in Truro for the week – Villa Sociedade, which is where we met them for the getting ready and first look before heading to Race Point. I don’t push ‘first looks’ on couples, but those moments are just some of my favorite of the day, especially when the couple gets lost in the moment and forgets we’re there – which is exactly what Melissa & Peter were able to do.
The ceremony was performed by Reverend Vernon Porter, who is also known as Lady Di. When we first met Melissa & Peter I could not hide my excitement to possibly photograph a wedding that Vernon would be officiating. The ceremony was performed beautifully and had everyone in tears. And, if you’ve never heard Lady Di’s radio show on WOMR, I highly suggest a listen!
Planning a wedding at sunset is a tricky business. It could very well be overcast, which is beautiful too. As it turned out, Melissa & Peter had a bit of a mix. The clouds began to roll in slowly before their ceremony. They had the sun with them throughout and for part of the champagne toast on the beach, and then it began to fade away under cloud cover. The warm sunset turned to a cool blue evening, and then they were off to Ten Tables in Provincetown (sadly, now closed) for a celebration dinner.
