It’s been a bit dreary around the Boston area the last few days, though to be honest, rain doesn’t bother me. When the rain is coming down I feel a real sense of warmth and coziness. This September Brenna & Nick were married at Overbrook House on Cape Cod. The day began warm and overcast, but once everyone was under the tent for the reception the rain began to come down…but who cared really, because they were all cozy together underneath the tent. The rain stopped around the time everyone had to move to the dance hall (for dancing, of course)! On our walk over the sky lit up with this amazing peach-pink light. It lasted for maybe 10 minutes at the most. I love photography for many reasons, but moments of light like that are some of my very favorite reasons. That light existed and then was gone, but we were able to create some portraits during that time and keep it forever. It continued to rain off and on throughout the night, but it didn’t seem to bother anyone at all.

I spoke to Brenna over the phone almost a year before their wedding. Within the first few minutes of chatting with her I knew I wanted to photograph her and Nick’s wedding. It was happening on the Cape (which I love), at an old house they were renting (i’m a huge fan of old homes), and the later part of the evening would be happening in a dance hall on the property (a dance hall!). Not just that, but speaking to Brenna that day I felt like I was speaking to a kindred spirit, and could only imagine that Nick would be wonderful as well.

These two are from Texas, but Brenna would visit family on the Cape during the summers growing up. She knew she wanted to have her wedding up this way and show all of their Texas folk what a special place the Cape can be.
